Apple Turnovers with Salted Caramel Sauce

Over at Kitchen Corners the cook off theme this month is apple.  I do make a great apple pie, but I wanted to try a new recipe to submit this month.  Make sure you check out the other recipes that are submitted.  Last month was pumpkin and there were some delicious recipes I am dying to try.

I was watching the food network this weekend, and I saw these apple turnovers on Dessert First.  They looked delicious.  In the same show Anne made a salted caramel sauce to go in a banana pudding pie.  I do not like bananas in desserts... ever.  So I was thinking that salted caramel sauce needed to go on the apple turnovers.

It is sweet, salty, tart, flakey and so delicious.  I think salted caramel might be the greatest thing, next to chocolate of course.  I served it with vanilla ice cream.  My hubby was loving this dessert and Peanut Butter kept saying "mmmmm" when he got little tastes of the salted caramel with his ice cream.  It was really good, and I will definitely make this again.  This delicious sauce has also inspired me to try to make salted caramels.

Click here for the recipe for the apple turnovers and the salted caramel sauce.
